If you are using Firefox or Flock download the yourminis extension below…
Extensions are small add-ons that add new functionality to Firefox or Flock. They allow you to customize your browser to fit your own needs and preferences.
The yourminis extension allows you to easily access yourminis, while browsing the Internet, by clicking on the yourminis.com logo
in the bottom right of your browser or clicking "Ctrl" and "~" at the same time on your keyboard.
This will launch yourminis in heads up display (HUD) mode over any page that you are currently on. yourminis can also interact with the page below the HUD. For example, if there are RSS feeds on the page, yourminis will detect the feeds and let you simply add them to yourminis with 1 click. In addition if you are on a page with microformats, MP3 files and more, yourminis will detect the content and give you a notification and additional 1 click options.
To go back to the page you were viewing, simply click back into the transparent background of the heads up display and yourminis will disappear. To install this powerful extension, disable your popup blocker for "blog.yourminis.com" and click the install button below:
If you are using Internet Explorer add a bookmarklet below…
A bookmarklet is an advanced bookmark that adds new functionality to your IE browser.
The yourminis bookmarklet allows you to easily access yourminis, while browsing the Internet. Clicking on the yourminis bookmarklet will launch yourminis in heads up display (HUD) mode over any page that you are currently on. yourminis can also interact with the page below the HUD. For example, if there are RSS feeds on the page, yourminis will detect the feeds and let you simply add them to yourminis with 1 click. In addition if you are on a page with microformats, MP3 files and more, yourminis will give you additional 1 click options.
To go back the page you were viewing simply click back into the transparent background of the heads up display and yourminis will disappear. Try it now by following these instructions:
- Open the View|Toolbars browser menu and make sure "Links" is checked.
- Right-click on the "Create bookmarklet" image below and select "Add to Favorites". (Explorer may then inform you that you are adding a bookmark that might not be safe -- this is a normal security message since you adding active content)
- You should see a list labeled "Create in:", if not press the "Create in >>" button.
- In the list labeled "Create in:" select the "Links" folder and press "OK". You should see the bookmark at the top of your browser.

Is it possible in a future update to stop the extension from flashing (or have an option for something like that) every time it detects a feed or a video on the current page. If I'm on a page that I know has a feed I don't want to be distracted with a flashing status bar icon. Thanks.

This is already possible. Just right click on the extension icon and un-check the "Enable Blinking" option.

Thank you very much. I right clicked it when no feeds were detected and that menu didn't come up. I didn't think about clicking it during the blinking. Thanks again.

That menu should always come up whether the icon is blinking or not. Can you test that and make sure that is the case? If not please either post that here, or in the forums at http://forums.yourminis.com

This doesn't work for me in the latest version of Flock.
Is it supposed to?

Mike - It's definitely supposed to work in Flock and it works for me. When you say most recent version, do you mean .7.8, or something else? And when you say it doesn't work, are you referring to the right click as in the previous comments or the entire thing? If you continue to have problems, please post as much details as possible to our forums (http://forums.yourminis.com) and we will do our best to troubleshoot with you.

- Firefox 2.0.0.1
- Popup blocker disabled for "blog.yourminis.com"
On clicking the "Install now" button nothing is happening.

You may need to refresh the page after disabling the popup blocker - and then try to click the link again. You can also try to get the extension directly from Mozilla here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3808/

Why I can't use the ff extensions with my created personal account. when i want to use it. i logged in with guest account...
Posted by: v3nOm | April 16, 2007 at 06:15 AM
You can definitely use your personal yourminis.com account with the FF extension. The extension will simply use whatever account you're currently logged in with, so go ahead and login normally and then use the extension. If this doesn't answer your question, please post it to our forums (http://forums.yourminis.com) where it will be easier to address...

well, not sure what this isn't working anymore but I installed the extensions and it continues to prompt me with login/pwd. I 1st thought maybe my account expired but when i switch over to IE everything works fine. So I uninstalled the enxtension, removed the cookies and anything stored locally and re-installed it. same thing...really annoying, any ideas anyone ?

What username/password are you being prompted for? Can you post this issue along with a screenshot to our our forums?
Posted by: Goowy | April 20, 2007 at 01:08 PM
Okay...this is complicated. I had an original account, and used yourminis successfully for months. Then both the start webpage and HUD would just show the Loading screen and nothing would come up. I created a new account with yourminis, and while I can access the start webpage, I believe the HUD is still trying to access my original account (surfdude621). How can I point the HUD to my new account? Where does the HUD store the login info?
Posted by: Roy V | June 06, 2007 at 12:10 PM
Roy - the HUD doesn't use separate login credentials. It users the credentials of whomever you are logged in as prior to initiating HUD - whether thats guest mode or logged in as a specific user. I'm assuming you're using the same browser when logging in normally and when launching HUD? Best thing may be for you to clear the yourminis.com cookies from your browser, close the browser, open it again, see if HUD works (it should login as guest), exit HUD, sign into your account, and then see if HUD works again. For follow up, you should probably post to the forums as it's much easier to have a discussion there....
