We're sorry to inform you that as of October 27, 2008, we will no longer support the yourminis startpage. You already know that one of the best things about widgets is their ability to give you access to the content and features you value from different locations across the Web. Because there are already so many great startpage solutions out there supporting yourminis (like myAOL, iGoogle or Netvibes), we've decided to let the startpage experts take care of the startpages, so we could focus on what we do best -- building widgets.
The startpage link will be removed from the site shortly, and the startpage itself will be completely removed on October 27, 2008, so please make sure to export all of your content from the site prior to this date. Although we know that this is an inconvenience, you can export your feeds data as an OPML file, take most of your content, and import it into other startpage solutions (see instructions below). yourminis widgets will continue to work on other sites as they have in the past.
We're also going to be making some changes to the gallery. The details page for each widget will still exist, but we will be removing browsing, favoriting, and statistics functionality from the consumer gallery.
To export your feeds data to another startpage:
1.) Simply click "Add Content" at the upper left hand side of the yourminis startpage.
2.) Click "Export OPML" at the bottom of the menu and save the OPML file to your desktop.
3.) Go to your favorite startpage and follow their instructions for importing the OPML file that you exported in step #2.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these changes. If you have any further questions, please feel free to comment below.
yourminis
sorry to hear that..
however I turned to Yourminis because widgets are Flash based for your HPage.. I was before on netvibes but I the ergonomics of YMinis was better for me... how can I have a startpage wth Flash widgets ?

Oh contraire! No one has a startpage like YourMinis. The others are primitive by comparison. Please reconsider this decision.

I echo the above sentiments, yourminis start pages are unique and enable a completely different flavour than any of the other startpages. Please reconsider, you will be doing everybody a big disservice by discontinuing... i would be willing to even pay a monthly fee for a premium yourminis startpage service. Think of it as an ooportunity to make money or at the least think about allowing someone else to take over the startpage aspect of your service, if you decide otherwise. It is too good to bury!

Have to agree with these opinions. MyAOL, Igoogle are rubbish and nowhere near compete with yourminis startpages. Netvibes is a nice service but it again does not allow for the cosmetic layout that yourminis does. I think you make a big mistake removing it. Just improve your marketing and give it a little more attention and you could have a winner commercially. So sad at your myopic decision. Make it into a commercial personal web page service on its own, it has so much potential. Please re-think.

please reconsider!! your startpage is awesome. If you *must* close down, will you consider providing the startpage code out as open source? I would love to build my own startpage - yours is miles better then the competitions.....

I have to agree also, about a month ago I made the switch from iGoogle to yourminis as it allowed for a much more customized layout (i.e. wallpapers), not to mention all the great widgets.
If it has to go it has to go, but I'd rather it didn't =)

Are you guys nuts!
If you take my startpages down I will never create widgets here again.

I have very mixed feelings, firstly I see you have removed the startpage link already!!!, which leaves us marooned with no access to our startpages, so we can't even try and salvage them!, which is not very decent of you and expresses very little customer care or respect.
Why didn't you send us emails with this important announcement so that we could have had a reasonable amount of time to salvage our work???
Secondly, I think the lack of customer contact is the reason you didn't build your community to a size it was worthy of, because you have without doubt the best customisable start pages in the market. Igoogle and MyAol are not alternatives!
As suggested above, why don't you put some small effort into your start pages and add some customer marketing and you could have a very successful platform that you could monetise.
Alternatively help your community that supported you in your earlier needs and give the code to someone that can do it justice or opensource the code as suggested?
You have created a very dissappointed user here and I hope you see the sense in trying to be more customer friendly and rethink your accelerated actions!

Raymond - Apologies for this, but I actually meant to include the link for the startpage for current users that may not know it - the link is http://www.yourminis.com/start. Also, an email is scheduled to go out by Tuesday for those users that have registered account...

Noooo please don't! Everything else is crap compared to YourMinis. I can never use Netvibes it's against the evolution of the web! It's like going back to tapes when you use MP3! Please don't!

I will really miss this feature! I used it all the time and it was so easy to find my links1 I will really miss you!!

Yes, there is no start page like yourminis...I was using Igoogle until I found yourminis, and never looked back! Now I am scrambling to find a feed reeder as nice as yourminis. I second the 'don't go' motion

Hi Gary,
I can't see anymore the total views and total downloads of a widget in my widget dashboard.
Is this a bug or are these important figures for my as a developer skipt.

Hi! This horrible. No one have a startpage like yourminis. Where should i Build my Widgets? Where can I update my Widgets with new content? No one really no one have so are great and awesome startpage like yourminis. If yourminis stop that service I have to stop to provide nice and new Content on my side...
Other Providers are horrible...so please...please don't do that.....
Posted by: MArtin | October 20, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Roy - we had to remove the stats from the dashboard as part of our gallery changes. We will eventually be revamping the dashboard and will be providing more relevant stats there, but for now you will need to click into each widget to view the summary reporting individually.
Posted by: Goowy | October 20, 2008 at 11:39 PM
Gary,
No problem to click the individualy widget to view the summary report, but where can I find the totals of all views and copies. I only see the totals of the last month...

I'm upset to hear this as well - the YourMinis start pages allowed us to do something very visually stimulating that other services don't offer - it created very cool dashboard overview effects that we used for significant purposes. Hopefully another solution comes along but in the mean time its unfortunate that YourMinis won't be it!
Posted by: Kevin | October 21, 2008 at 01:52 PM
this is unfortunate - yourminis startpages were much more visually stimulating and allowed for graphic dashboards that provided powerful public facing monitoring opportunity; there were some great uses of yourminis that i didn't find anywhere else; hopefully someone else comes along with a similarly valuable resource to take your place

I really enjoy yourminis I also like the fact you support them as a Heads Up Display will this feature go away? That is awful.. These others are no substitute. Please reconsider if not can you allow us to embed these is some other HUD display for our blogs etc.. I don't see anyone else doing that.
Posted by: Brendon Smith | October 21, 2008 at 03:43 PM
Not cool,,,, not cool at all.
I feared this day would come at some point, I have so much information in myMinis, I dread having to move this,,,,
PLEASE Reconsider!
Posted by: Christian Baptiste | October 21, 2008 at 04:18 PM
Brendon - Heads Up Display is a part of the startpage, so it will also go away.
RoyDuf - Unfortunately, it's only a 30 day view at present for our free offering. You can export the data each week/month and leverage an external tool (such as Excel) to bring the data together for you.
Posted by: Goowy | October 21, 2008 at 04:54 PM
Well if Heads Up Display is toast how can I embed the HUD in a flash file so I can superimpose not just one mini but multiple minis on the page? Am I allowed to call your swfs? remotely in a swf never tried??
Posted by: Brendon Smith | October 21, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Say I just joined your api developer network and fully intend to invest some time. Have you guys ever looked at Yahoo pipes? You know what would be sweet for the flash community as a whole? Something like that where people could add and create their own flash classes then allow the community to vote them up allow them to be embedded in other swfs alter them etc. I also know you guys have some asp.net guys have they checked out or thought of using Flash Develop and giving to the Flash Develop IDE community? Might be neat to see a completely web based application that could make swfs that was community driven kind of like yahoo pipes, popfly.ms or dapper.net.. Just a thought. Thanks.
