As some of you may be aware already, we experienced a brief period of downtime this morning.  We were able to identify the issues and resolve service fairly quickly.  However, there is some additional work that needs to be done to get the service to run at its fully optimized state and to avoid additional similar issues.

To avoid further disruption during peak hours, we will be performing maintenance tonight at 11pm Pacific (5/1/09 at 2am Eastern).  We will be replacing some physical hardware, resulting in a period of downtime.  While, we believe that this should be complete and services should be back online within 30 minutes, we are scheduling a one hour period to be safe.

We've just released a new version.  It includes an important new feature that we like to call the "Sliver Syndication Panel".  Essentially, to increase the probability of our widget users to copy the widget out to their favorite syndication sites and spread the brand, we've added the ability to provide syndication copy options on the front of the widget.  So, instead of (or in addition to) having to click "copy me" or "grab me" to get to the syndication panel, the user can see a top set of destinations (as selected by the developer of the widget) right on the front of the widget and have one less click. 

You can customize various things about the sliver, such as background color and alpha, syndication destinations, font colors and sizes, and alignment (top or bottom).  The sliver is completely optional and can only be activated via API.  More details can be found on that on our developer blog.
